Program Outline
Master of Performing Arts (MPA) in Kathak (Kalā Kovid Kathak कला कोविद् कथक) at Mahagami Gurukul Center for Performing Arts is of 3 years duration (including 1 year Bridge Course) that are ideal for professional dancers and senior dance learners aspiring to create a niche for themselves in the creative world. In addition to theory and practical in the chosen dance form, many Generic courses like Choreography, Musicology, Dance Iconography, Dance Paintings, Indology, Ancient History; Elective courses like music, vadya, theatre, dance writing will be taught to the learners. After completing M.P.A, there are openings as Choreographer, Dance Teacher, Event organiser, Performer, dance writer, etc and also in Fitness & Therapy centres or research centres. Those with academic inclinations can pursue PhD program after completion of MPA.

Training system is an ideal blend of traditional Gurukul training and contemporary trends in education aimed at producing dancers with an ability to create own artistic work, present and teach performative arts and engage in outreach initiatives
Proficiency in Technique, Vocabulary, Context
The program helps the learner develop a strong command on the technique, vocabulary and contextual studies with respect to the chosen dance form
Multi-layered aspects of Indian Dance Heritage
The curriculum facilitates introduction to the multi-layered aspects of Indian Dance Heritage, of dance techniques from across the world, history of the chosen dance form and symbols and metaphors with static and dynamic movements within a dance tradition
Learning by Creating
The learner is trained to create short dance narratives, understand body dynamics and blend concepts from theory and practice during the training program
Internships and Placement Support
The learner is offered internships and placements with a range of dance organisations, companies, schools and colleges
Eligibility
- Graduate in any discipline with minimum marks 50% and minimum 6-7 years of recent training in chosen dance form and stage experience
